Wolverine Blues

Jelly Roll Morton wrote this tune in Detroit in 1923. It isn’t a blues, but the publisher added “Blues” to its title because he thought it sounded cool. Morton always insisted that the correct title should have been “The Wolverine,” the name of a barber shop in Lansing, Michigan owned by one of his friends and named after the University of Michigan mascot. But no matter, what we have now is “Wolverine Blues”.
